Lost in Translation: 10 Crazy TV Show Titles

$

If you're a fan of foreign TV dramas, you've probably had the following embarrassing conversation:

"What are you watching now?"
"It's a show called "Boys Over Flowers" -- it's about a girl who..."
"What kind of name is that? Do these boys have a flower shop? This sounds lame."
"It makes sense in Korean, trust me!"

We've all been there. Here are our picks for the top 10 confusing, awkward, and downright crazy titles on TV:

10.The Tragedy of W: I never knew that learning my ABC's would be so dramatic.

9. Me Too, Flower!: No, you shouldn't have that much in common with a plant.

8. Holy Battle in Couleur de Rose - The Future is in Our Hands: Why choose one long title, when you can have two?

7. Panda and Hedgehog: Either this is a heartwarming children's cartoon, or a strange gene-splicing experiment.

6. Smiling Pasta: Why does my dinner have feelings?

5. Answer Me 1997: Last time I checked, 1997 was a year; I don't think we'll be getting an answer anytime soon.

4. Without Breasts, There's No Paradise: As true as the message may be, saying it out loud still gets me in trouble with friends and family.

3. Escaping from Charisma: This sounds like a horror film made for anti-social people.

2. A Hole in My Panty: That's what happens when you leave your laundry in the dryer too long, right?
Available Exclusively to Viki Pass subscribers and QC's

1. True Love/Inborn Pair: Would I be wrong to assume this drama is about twins who fall in love while still in the womb?

Have you had to explain a strange English translation to your friends? What's the funniest title missing from this list?

After playing an alien in "My Love from the Star," actor Kim Soo Hyun has officially enrolled in basic space training at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Kim Soo Hyun became a worldwide celebrity after his stellar performance in "My Love from the Star." News of the show's popularity even reached the United States, catching the attention of NASA's Administrator of International Relations, Michael F. O'Brien.

"We've been looking for an international ambassador at NASA for a long time. When I heard about this actor in Korea making space 'cool' again, I knew we had to get in touch," O'Brien said.

Kim's representatives say that while he has always had an interest in outer space, "My Love from the Star" changed his perspective entirely. "[Kim Soo Hyun] fell in love with the idea of space travel while filming this drama. Even during breaks, we found him flipping through astronomy books and looking at the sky through the telescope on set."

In this memorable scene below, Do Min Joon's alien abilities of teleportation and telekinesis are exposed to Cheon Song Yi's younger brother:

The training camp, which other celebrities such as N'SYNC's Lance Bass have joined, will last for up to 3 months. We hope Kim Soo Hyun enjoys the program and returns home safely.

The first still filming shots for the upcoming Korean drama “Hotel King” have recently been released. The Saturday-Sunday drama will premiere on April 5. Add the channel to your favorites for more updates!

Lee Da Hae and Lee Dong Wook star in ‘Hotel King,’ which premieres on April 5.
In the new drama, a rich CEO (played by Lee Dong Wook) climbs the corporate ranks to take on the president of a rival luxury hotel. But things get complicated when he falls in love with the daughter of his enemy (played by Lee Da Hae). The story of the upcoming Korean drama is familiar to fans who have seen “Shark,” or more recently, “The Full Sun.”

Lee Dong Wook and Lee Da Hae strike a serious pose for ‘Hotel King.’
But the one K-drama that comes up in every discussion of “Hotel King” is actually a romantic comedy from nine years ago. In 2005, Lee Dong Wook and Lee Da Hae also appeared together in “My Girl,” a hilarious and heartwarming classic that launched both stars to worldwide fame.

The ‘Hotel King’ pair first met in 2005 K-drama, ‘My Girl.’
In “My Girl,” Lee Dong Wook played another hotelier with an all-business attitude.

And Lee Da Hae played everyone’s favorite tomboy con-artist, with the smarts to get herself out of any situation.

We can’t wait for the “My Girl” reunion on the set of “Hotel King.” From the looks of the stills and first press conference, we’re in for a fun and memorable drama experience!

He’s starring in the new drama “Fall in Love With Me.” In his newest drama, Yan plays Lu Tian Xing, a ruthless advertising prodigy by day and a conservative, glasses-wearing shy fellow named Xiao Lu by night. But in “Just You,” Yan plays a cold-hearted CEO who eventually warms to his colleagues and housemate.

Which leads us to the question … is Aaron Yan a bad boy or a real sweetheart? Let’s compare below:

Bad Boy: Yan’s character, Qi Yi, has absolutely no problems judging you during meal times, just like he coldly judges his housemate, Liang Liang (played by Puff Guo), in “Just You.”

You want to say that again? Because I’m totally judging you.
Sweetheart: But sometimes, Yan’s character is the one being judged, and he’s kind of cute when he’s embarrassed about it. No one would dare judge the marketing prodigy, Tian Xing, in “Fall in Love With Me,” but maybe we’d tease his alter-ego, Xiao Lu?

Uh … sorry for being so cute, boss?
Bad Boy: Yan is a relentless boss, both in “Fall in Love With Me” as the ruthless Tian Xing and in “Just You” as Qi Yi. With him around, there’s absolutely no time for fun and games in the office — not to mention dating!

If you have any fun, I’ll know about it!
Sweetheart: But once he warms up to you (like he does with Liang Liang in “Just You”), Yan’s character is not so bad after all — not to mention a total softie. Plus, he’s got a smile that’ll melt your heart! And of course, as Xiao Lu in “Fall in Love With Me,” he’s far from the cold-blooded boss that he used to be!

Hey girl, want to hang out and have some fun?
But no matter what the situation, no one can deny that Aaron Yan works hard and always gets down to business!

Well, let’s hope the fangirls like my new drama!
So what do you think — is Aaron Yan a bad boy or a total sweetie? Let us know in the comments below! And don’t forget to share how excited you are to watch his new drama, “Fall in Love With Me”!

Viki
