Today, Super Junior’s Yesung enlists in the military, joining his bandmates Leeteuk and Heechul.
This year, many K-pop and K-drama stars will serve in one of the Republic of Korea’s three Armed Forces branches as part of the two-year mandatory military service. Singer Se7en became one of the first idols to enlist in 2013. “I Miss You” star Yoo Seung Ho quietly joined the military following the finale of his hit show in March. Watch his goodbye to fans below:
Fans know that two years can be a long time to wait for your favorite idol to return from military service. But take heart! Many stars will complete their service this year and return to the airwaves and stages.
Kim Jae Wook of “Coffee Prince,” Kim Kyu Jong of boy band SS501, Ji Hyun Woo of “Queen In Hyun's Man,” Kim Jun of “Boys Over Flowers,” and singer Wheesung will all return this year. K-pop idol Rain also will complete his mandatory military service this July, and Hyun Bin recently returned after his two years of military service.
Their returns should pacify us until our other favorite idols can complete their military service and come back to their adoring fans.
