The great thing about building a popular product is that many people learn about it and tell their friends. The challenge comes when you try to scale that product to accommodate tens and even hundreds of millions of users.
Over the last year, we’ve been hard at work doing just that: making Viki easier to scale so that we can bring you a better performing, faster site and apps, as well as an easier-to-use set of APIs for partners of all kinds.
We’ve already started rolling out some of these products, including a new video playerand subtitling and segmenting tools. But the most visible change will come in the next few weeks, when we start rolling out a redesigned viki.com.
The changes will enable better discovery, navigation, video viewing and much more. We’ll let you know (via the website, blog, Facebook, Twitter) exactly when the changes will take effect, but in the meantime, here’s a sneak peak of the home page:
