Dear Halmoni,

I am a 32-year-old woman and I feel like every other day a friend, a coworker or a family member is announcing a marriage or pregnancy. Increasingly, I’m getting a tinge of a feeling that I should be hitting these milestones, too. Only a tinge, not a big urge. Mostly, the idea of marriage and kids scares me. Should I wait until things “feel right” and then pursue that path, or do I need to consider my age and plow ahead before it’s too late?

Thanks, Gran.

Dear Sleepless in Seattle,

First of all, Halmoni love romantic comedy. Halmoni also wonder where is the child actor that played Jonah. Questions, questions.

Speaking of question, to be a 32-year-old woman is a big question sign, aye? In my day, we have no choice. Halmoni was locked in room until she agree to marry ugly man. But guess what? Halmoni run away and get PhD in ballroom dance. Halmoni know she sacrifice some benefit of traditional life, but on plus side, had many glorious dance under disco lights.

This generation always rely on “feel right,” but Halmoni recommend you squeeze your brain, preferably while in hot sauna, and ask question: “What do I want to do in life?” Halmoni speak with caution, but always act in courage. Never in fear. If you scare what people think, stop it! If you fear diapers of husband and baby, stop it! Nobody ever ready for big life change, but you will be brave and use conscious mind. Modern woman make her own stones.

In words of magical nun Halmoni saw in dream one night, “Climb every mountain, ford every stream, follow every rainbow, till you find your dream!”

Be courage, young one.

You welcome,

Halmoni
