Love Affair is the 1939 American dramatic film about a romance between French playboy Michel Marnet (Charles Boyer) and American nightclub singer Terry McKay (Irene Dunne) who fall in love onboard a ship. Although the two are both already engaged, they plan to secretly reunite in six months at the Empire State Building. When Hazel learns she isn't dying after all, she keeps the information from Walley. Walley writes the story of her "imminent" death. They fall in love and her story becomes a huge hit in New York.
