Interracial dating is becoming more accepted with each passing year; in the United States, almost 90% of today's "Millennial" generation approves of it. So what's the problem with the most common pairing, White males and Asian females? It's called "Yellow Fever," or the strong romantic interest that some men have in (exclusively) Asian women.
"Seeking Asian Female" follows Steven, who fell in love with a Chinese woman online.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Debbie Lum about the challenges of making the film and her personal experience with yellow fever at the CAAMFest Opening Night Gala. Watch the Viki TV Exclusive interview below:
In the Viki TV interview, Lum reveals that even though Steve and his Chinese bride, Sandy, had corresponded online for two years, they could barely communicate after meeting in person. Being Chinese-American, Lum was able to help translate for the couple, and in doing so even improved her own Chinese language skills.
"Seeking Asian Female" will premiere on PBS on May 6th. If you've had experience with yellow fever, join the discussion and let us know in the comments.
You can follow the Viki TV channel here to see more exclusive interviews with filmmakers and celebrities in global entertainment.
One of the most popular Korean dramas of the season, “That Winter, The Wind Blows,” is coming to an end this week. In it, Jo In Sung shines as the morally ambiguous character Oh Soo, an orphan who lost his sense of purpose in life after his first love passed away, and became a high stakes gambler and womanizer.
Opposite him is Oh Young (Song Hye Gyo, Worlds Within), the sole heiress of the PL GroupCorporation. Estranged from her mother and brother, the blind Young is left alone after her father dies. With no one to lean on, she lives a very lonely existence until Oh Soo enters her life. But Oh Soo don't have good intentions: he sees an easy target in the blind young woman and tries to pull off his biggest scam to date -- pretending to be her long-lost older brotherand claim the family fortune.
"That Winter, The Wind Blows" is based on the Korean movie "Love Me Not," starring Kim Ju Hyeok as Julien, the parallel to Jo In Sung's character Oh Soo, and Moon Geun Young as Ryu Min, the parallel to Song Hye Gyo's character Oh Young.
Just like us, you're probably sad to see this show come to an end. So we put together a slideshow of the actors' childhood pictures to put a smile back on your face!
This show is available to viewers in the Americas. If you love “That Winter, The Wind Blows,” make sure to visit the channel page and thank “The Winter Lovers Team” for translating the show!

Hi everyone. This is Rohit, VP of Engineering, and Howie, head of User Experience.
Over the last year, we’ve been hard at work doing just that: making Viki easier to scale so that we can bring you a better performing, faster site and apps, as well as an easier-to-use set of APIs for partners of all kinds.
We’ve already started rolling out some of these products, including a new video playerand subtitling and segmenting tools. But the most visible change will come in the next few weeks, when we start rolling out a redesigned viki.com.
The changes will enable better discovery, navigation, video viewing and much more. We’ll let you know (via the website, blog, Facebook, Twitter) exactly when the changes will take effect, but in the meantime, here’s a sneak peak of the home page:
And the video page:
We can’t wait for you to try out the new Viki! In the meantime, leave a comment here or through the Help Center - we’d love to hear from you!

Korean idols work incredibly hard for many years to bring us our favorite songs and K-Dramas. They often also appear in TV commercials, endorse products and, of course, perform in concerts. So how much do stars earn from all this?
Miss A's Suzy reportedly earns around US $540,000 per modeling (print advertising) deal. Although there are others who might make more than this per deal, Susy has made more than US $8.9 million in only 14 months, due to the large number of contracts that she has. YoonA, Jeon Ji Hyun and Song Hye Gyo reportedly make similar amounts per modeling deal.
Suzy is able to command such a large paycheck because of her image and activities - she is both an idol and an actress with lead roles in top dramas such as Gu Family Book and Big. Suzy is currently the face of beauty brand The Face Shop, Reebok, Domino's Pizza and Tagatose amongst others.
Miss A's Suzy makes a reported US$540,000 per modeling deal
Gangnam Style became the first video in YouTube history to hit 1 billion video views. This was great news for artist PSY, who reportedly made around US$10 million in 2012, most of which came from YouTube and TV commercial deals.
Girl group Girls' Generation reportedly made around US$43 million in 2012, while boy band Big Bang earned around US$70 million.
See Girls' Generation film a commercial in Japan below, in the ad members transform into adorable miniatures.
Some stars are also songwriters and earn royalties on the songs that they write. It was reported that, in 2012, Big Bang's G-Dragon made around US$846,000 in royalties while Kangta earns at least US$420,000 in royalties, each year.

K-Drama Female Leads
Although they are ridiculous, overall we can’t help but say KEEP the traditional male lead trope.
K-Drama Male Leads
Second male leads are easy to spot. They’re the handsome ones lurking (or stalking) in the background, doing thoughtful things for the female lead while she makes ugly crying faces over the rude man she loves. They’re the type of guys your dad wants you to marry.

Korean Idols in Military Service
This year, many K-pop and K-drama stars will serve in one of the Republic of Korea’s three Armed Forces branches as part of the two-year mandatory military service. Singer Se7en became one of the first idols to enlist in 2013. “I Miss You” star Yoo Seung Ho quietly joined the military following the finale of his hit show in March. Watch his goodbye to fans below:
Fans know that two years can be a long time to wait for your favorite idol to return from military service. But take heart! Many stars will complete their service this year and return to the airwaves and stages.
Kim Jae Wook of “Coffee Prince,” Kim Kyu Jong of boy band SS501, Ji Hyun Woo of “Queen In Hyun's Man,” Kim Jun of “Boys Over Flowers,” and singer Wheesung will all return this year. K-pop idol Rain also will complete his mandatory military service this July, and Hyun Bin recently returned after his two years of military service.
Their returns should pacify us until our other favorite idols can complete their military service and come back to their adoring fans.

May 12 is Mother's Day in many countries around the world. And what better way to celebrate, and honor our mother-figures, than to look back at some of our favorite mommy memories:
Like when we brought our first crush over for dinner and Mom kept talking about our days wetting the bed.
Or when we went to a fancy restaurant and she tried a little too hard to blend in.
Or when she started borrowing from our wardrobe and copying our fashion:
There was that span of about 15 years when we didn't want to be seen in public with her,
Especially when she was trying to be a "Cool Mom."
And that time when she caught us sneaking out of the house and we just said,
Until she suggested that we catch up on our dramas with Viki!
